About the Job
We are now looking for a researcher in the field of reindeer husbandry.
Responsibilities:
- Apply for research grants from relevant funding bodies.
- Conduct research-based collaboration with researchers within and outside SLU.
- Plan and practically carry out research in the field of reindeer husbandry.
- Communicate research results and contribute relevant knowledge to the surrounding community.
- Publish obtained results in reputable scientific journals and trade press.
- Teach students in various educational programs and levels and supervise BSc and MSc students.
Your Background
Applicants must have a PhD in biology (reindeer husbandry) or a related discipline. Documented experience in research within the field of reindeer husbandry and analysis of animal movement data (GPS and accelerometer) is required, as well as experience in information gathering through interviews. The applicant should have previously applied for and received research grants. As a researcher, you should be able to work both independently and in a team, have good communication skills in both Swedish and English (oral and written), as well as Finnish (oral).
Experience in teaching and course leadership is an advantage. The ability to teach in Swedish is a requirement. A driving license (B) is also required. We will also consider the applicant's personal qualities and suitability, as well as previous experience in the subject area, along with general subject knowledge.
About Us
The goal of our department is to promote good animal husbandry and animal welfare as well as sustainable food production with high product quality through research and education about animals with a focus on feed and nutrition, management and environment, ethology and animal ethics, animal welfare, and animal protection. We have about 125 employees working in Uppsala, Skara, Umeå, and Gothenburg.
